The groups offer a place to gather, share experiences, support each other and work together to explore new ways of coping. The YMCA is a leading Christian charity committed to supporting all young people, particularly in times of need.
Her role is to ensure that all our patients with a learning disability have the most effective care and treatment and that their special needs are addressed, whether they are staying on a ward or visiting an out-patient clinic.
She can supply you with an ‘Information about me’ folder prior to planned admissions and she ensures that these folders are given to carers when someone with a learning disability is admitted as an emergency.
The Trust has a bleep system for patients and carers attending out-patient clinics at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. Clinic staff will try to fast track learning disability patients through but this isn’t always possible. General out- patients and Trauma and Orthopaedic clinics have their own bleeps – ask at reception in those clinics. If you are visiting any of the other clinics, collect a bleep from the PALS office on level 2, behind Main Reception.
We have a series of easy read leaflets available explaining some of the more common investigations that we do here and information about visiting A & E, CDU and the pre – op assessment clinic.
Jane is there to help with anything at all though so do contact her and discuss your concerns with her
