Berkshire Autistic Society was set up in 1990 by parents of children with autism, autism-related problems and challenging behaviours. Thornford Park Hospital is a 117 bed low and medium secure hospital offering high quality, individualised care, treatment and rehabilitation for men and women aged 18+ who are detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and difficult to place in NHS facilities. Own by the Priory, the hospital can be found on Crookham Hill in Thatcham, Newbury
