    'Understanding Male Eating Disorders'  

    Workshop on Friday 3rd September 2010, 1-4pm 

     

    Venue: Oxfordshire Mind, 2 Kings Meadow, Osney Mead, Oxford, OX2 0DP

    Facilitated by: Sam Thomas (Founder/Project Leader - 'Men Get Eating Disorders Too')*

    This awareness raising workshop is aimed at professionals in the health and social care field who would like to know more about male eating disorders. The aim of the workshop is to increase participants understanding of this issue, so that they can be better effective at supporting men who present symptoms of disordered eating.

    This workshop will

    explore some of the myths and misconceptions often associated with male eating disorders

    • cover definitions, contributing factors and support services available
    • provide an insight into the issues men face getting help
    • examine the barriers men face in accessing services and how these barriers can be overcome with gender inclusive service provision

     

    You will have plenty of opportunities to discuss and ask questions throughout the workshop. It will both be informative and experiential so you will go away feeling much more knowledgeable about the issue of male eating disorders.

    Cost:

    We are charging a small fee for places at the workshop as follows

    Professionals working in the statutory sector: £50.00

    Professionals working in the non statutory sector: £25.00

    We also have a limited number of free places for volunteers.
